Jason A. Penrod

Founding Attorney


Jason A. Penrod was only the 20th attorney to be recognized as a board certified expert in Elder Law by the Florida Bar and the National Elder Law Foundation. As the founder of Family Elder Law, he has quickly expanded his practice to include offices in Lake Wales, Sebring, and Lakeland, Florida. Jason is also the co-owner of Family Elder Care, Family Financial Services, and J & D Properties.

Originally from a small town in the Buffalo, New York area, Jason earned his B.A. degree from Niagara University and was the recipient of the Sertoma Award. Upon graduation, he worked and saved for law school while running for public office. Jason then headed to Vanderbilt University Law School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jason began his legal career in Central Florida and immediately became immersed in the community. He has served as the President of the Lake Wales Rotary Club and the Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce. Jason has been recognized as a Rotarian of the Year and has received the distinguished Lake Wales Community Service Award. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Chapters Health Foundation and for the Polk State College Foundation. In 2018, the Family Elder Law team received the Carl F. Durso Award for Excellence in Business by the Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce.


Jason enjoys writing and lecturing across the country. He has authored a book for nursing home management entitled “7 Strategies to Have Paying Residents & Avoid Lawsuits”, has co-authored “Don’t Go Broke in a Nursing Home!”, and is a contributing author of “The Family Estate Planning & Elder Law Guide”. As well as being a frequent National Business Institute speaker, Jason is also a Veterans Administration Accredited Attorney. Jason and his wife Monica, who is from Guadalajara, Mexico, are blessed with two beautiful children, Isabella and Alexander.
