Attorney Kristin Nelson Royal, a fourth-generation Lake Walean, brings her extensive legal knowledge and love for the local community to the Family Elder Law team.
Prior to joining our practice, Kristin attended law school at the University of Florida after completing her undergraduate degree at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. During law school, she served as a Florida Supreme Court judicial intern for the Honorable Barbara J. Pariente, was elected as the Executive Communications Editor of the Florida Law Review, and received several "Book Awards" for her academic performance.
Upon graduation from law school, Kristin served as a federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable Leslie Abrams Gardner of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. During her tenure as a clerk, Kristin drafted numerous orders on dispositive motions, assisted the judge with several civil and criminal trials, and aided the judge in preparation to sit by designation on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. After her clerkship, Kristin practiced at an international law firm in Orlando, where she focused on litigation and dispute resolution.
Driven by a desire to return to and serve the community where she grew up, Kristin joined Family Elder Law after several years in Orlando. Drawing on her wide-ranging experience, Kristin represents clients with confidence, care, and attention to detail.
Kristin and her husband Wayne met while attending Lake Wales High School together. They have been married since 2016 and enjoy spending time with family and friends--especially their two dogs, Ranger and Scout. When she's not watching Florida football, Kristin enjoys playing golf, trying new recipes, and honing her wakeboarding skills on Lake Easy.
