Navigating Resources for Veterans Facing Alzheimer's
Did you know??? The Alzheimer’s Association reports that nearly half a million American veterans have Alzheimer’s—and as the population ages, that number is expected to grow. And if that does not get your attention; Did you know that more than 60% of the VA’s costs of caring for those with Alzheimer’s are for nursing home care?
The bright side is that there is potential assistance for our military veterans and their families. In fact, there is a much-underused pension benefit known as Aid and Attendance can provide some money to cover costs for assistance performing everyday tasks. Find out about eligibility requirements at the VA website (www.va.gov)
Like the Alzheimer’s Association, which offers caregivers a wide array of support and education (www.alz.org), the VA has the Program of General Caregiver Support Services & the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers.
You won’t want to miss VA Coordinators Gabrielle Tapia & Scott M. Burns along with Board-Certified Elder Law Attorney Jason A. Penrod in a collaborative webinar about how the VA & Alzheimer’s Association can provide substantive help to Veteran families confronting Alzheimer’s.
